An exciting opportunity for a Civil/Structural/Architectural Designer IV to prepare engineering designs, calculations and layout involving difficult and more complex phases of design work. Assignments have clear and specified objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables. Applies standard design/engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, and uses judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.

Responsibilities:

Performs design functions which require the application of both theoretical and practical engineering principles and techniques in the development of more complex designs and techniques in the development of more complex design of major components or major portion of functional systems.

1. Clarifies and analyzes criteria and technical data received from engineering personnel for the development and delineation of design drawings.

2. Performs minor mathematical and statistical calculations necessary for design work, consulting with higher-level design personnel on more difficult matters.

3. Coordinates design with other disciplines in regard to interface and interference, uses the model (where applicable) for the basis of routing, equipment location, etc., prior to start of design.

4. Develops, designs, lays out and prepares drawings from inception to completion.

5. Checks design drawings and vendor drawings for completeness, compatibility with engineering criteria, flow diagram and other related drawings and interface requirements.

6. Prepares all necessary related drawings, and when appropriate uses pre-engineered or standard components, as designated by Engineering department, for incorporation in design.

7. Prepares material listing as required for valves, specialties, equipment, etc. Also prepares material take-offs when required.

8. Advises supervisor as to changes in design that may affect the completion of the drawings within the prescribed budget and schedule.

9. Consults with supervisor on a continuing basis as to information required, design deficiencies and the status of his work.

10. When so requested, travels to the job site to perform tasks related to project requirements within the discipline.

11. Assures all drawings are prepared in accordance with company and/or project quality assurance procedures as they relate to the Design Department.

Experience:
· Must have at least 6 to 10 years of design/drafting experience in power, industrial, commercial and/or related fields.
· Must have 3 to 4 years of experience in applying CAD tools. AutoCAD or Intergraph CAD is desirable. Experience in 3D modeling is a plus.
· Experience in PDS (Plant Design System) and/or Smart Plant is desirable.

Education:
High School Graduate

This person will be assigned his or her own territory and is responsible to meet and obtain new business to build the engineering services business in the Power Utilities market segment domestically. Projects will have a broad range of services; Engineering, Design, Procurement, Construction Management & Plant Start-up and Consulting. The Utilities segments rely heavily on teaming partners with construction capabilities beyond CM and/or with OEMs or large EPC providers. The Power Consulting services include; owner's engineer, lender's engineer, feasibility studies, IGCC, AQCS. The Industrial services include behind the fence smaller projects; boilers, chillers. Our current business is 80% domestic and 20% International.

Job Requirements:

· Must have at least 8 to 10 years of successful sales experience. (Must have sold directly into the Utilities market in the Midwest or Southwest.)

· The ideal candidate will have experience and key contacts in the following areas;

· Midwest Utilities
· Coal plant utility upgrade experience
· Gas turbine technology experience
· Contractor and OEM teaming

· Candidate should be located in the Midwest, Southwest, or Southeast.

· Outstanding communication and selling skills required.

· Must be willing to travel 50% of the time.

Education:

Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
MBA is preferred.
