What is the NJSPE?

We are an organization that is:

  • Composed entirely of qualified Engineers and Engineers-in-Training.
  • Devoted exclusively to the non-technical problems of all engineers regardless of employment or engineering discipline.
  • Encouraging effective working elements at three levels of the Engineers' interest, namely; the local community, the state and the nation.
  • Governed by democratic principles and directed by the wishes of individual members, expressed through local representation to the State Society.
  • Integrated within the National Society of Professional Engineers.

Our objectives are:

  • To safeguard life, health and property by restricting or encouraging the restriction by proper authority the practice of engineering to properly qualified persons.
  • To advance the welfare of the engineering profession by establishment, observance, and enforcement of high ethical standards of conduct.
  • And through sponsorship of the creation and enforcement of adequate licensing laws and practice acts, to place the control of engineering projects within the scope of such laws and acts.
  • To focus public attention upon the functions, requirements and accomplishments of engineers.
  • To sponsor and promote honorable procedures tending toward recognition commensurate with the dignities and responsibilities of the profession.
